• an thol o jee – a collection of stories.

i'm a displaced Texan living in England - go figure! Of all the places for me to end up, this was the last on my list. I married an english guy a while back and have been here for quite some time now. i know all the places that sell 'real' salsa and tomatillos, i am on a first name basis with most of them and if you have to ask what a tomatillo is, chances are you havent been to my home! (or texas for that matter). I have two cats and a dog - they are very attached to me. my dog, pablo, sleeps under my desk while i am working and the cats usually come and visit me several times a day, regardless of where i am in the house and i wouldnt have it any other way. I never use an alarm clark and rarely comb my hair in the morning. i hate being ordinary and i love making every day stuff beautiful. i love thinking outside the box and i hate limitations.

    I love dreamers.

I am a wedding photojournalist with a big heart for fine art portraiture - nothing makes me happier than photographing people while they react to one another or life situations naturally. You wont get cheesy smiles of everyone gathered to look square at the camera - in my eye, i see a glimpse of a smile or a special look or a reaction to something funny and that is what attracts me, real, natural, organic. of course i am not opposed to taking a few of those standard family group shots, heck, i even have a few on my website - i know that grandmas love those! but lets keep those to a minimum, ok?

here is my blog, a place where i write personal things and post personal work as well as my current weddings and portraits. bear with me, i am always behind . . . but i catch up sooner or later....

winter weather does not hinder getting good photographs!

fantastic family session, even if the kids don’t always behave, sometimes, it just works.

romeo’s first photo shoot!

I couldnt love him any more than I already do, he is just the perfect puppy!  We went outside today to get some fresh air and we lucked out and caught the sun out. I had much difficulty getting some decent photographs of him because he was always running towards me!

when they say a picture says a 1,000 words . . .

they must have had Jonathan and Laurel in mind!

Sometimes, you don’t need a huge audience for your declaration. I was most honoured to be witness, and enjoyed this day so much!

Where for art thou . . .

Meet Romeo, the newest member of my family.

I wasnt sure if I would ever be ready for another dog after losing Pablo so suddenly but I sincerely missed that bonding experience and companionship you have with a dog, but of course, Pablo wasnt just another dog, so I wasnt sure I would be able to find that again. After New Years, I felt though that if I found the right puppy, I was ready. I found a good breeder, one that I trusted and while I really wanted to adopt from a shelter, because of my circumstances with already owning 3 cats and having a small house, I had to have a small breed that would tolerate cats – i combed the shelters for over a month and the majority were large dogs or ones that would not tolerate a cat. So my mind was made up and i met with the breeder who told me she had a litter of Bichon Shihtzu mix ready for new homes. I quickly did some research on the breed and decided this was a good mix. I really love Bichons and have had two over the last 20 years, their personality really suits me. I arrived at the breeders on the 11th and went home with Romeo – I knew right away he was the right one! He had a larger brother that was a bit more robust, but something told me the smaller, timid one was my Romeo!

I havent regretted one moment with him, he has been a dream and has really filled a huge gap left in my heart by Pablo. I look forward to every day, watching him grow and laughing at his antics. He is a blessing and has quickly endeared himself to us.

I think even Pablo would approve.

a london city engagement

Jonathan and laurel had their engagement photo session in london, they are city dwellers so it seemed more appropriate. I definitely enjoyed a change of scenery!

robin - Beautiful! I like the change of scenery, but you still made it feel like Tami. They are lovely together.
